About the Festival

Because They’re Funny (BTF) is a comedy festival from the producers of the American Black Film Festival, created to celebrate multicultural voices in comedy.

Named one of USA Today’s “Ten Best Live Events” of 2024, BTF returns for its third year with a continued mission: launch the next generation of stand-up stars, and showcase comedy-driven film and TV content.

Produced by NICE CROWD in partnership with Events DC—the official convention and sports authority for the District of Columbia—the 2025 festival takes place October 10–12 along the Wharf in Washington, D.C.
